CLG Outdoor Lighting · Bend & Central Oregon

Light your property.
Preserve your night.

Warm arrival lighting. Comfortable paths. Quiet evenings beneath an open sky. Beautiful outdoor lighting should bring your property to life while respecting the darkness around it.

CLG Outdoor Lighting can help you plan landscape lighting, fixture upgrades and controls with your property’s lighting requirements in mind. We start with what needs light, where it should fall and what should remain dark.

Fixture selection

Considered fixtures.
Carefully directed light.

Explore fixture families for paths, entrances, steps and sheltered outdoor spaces. CLG landscape proposals use brass fixtures, with the exact finish, output, optic and mounting selected for the property.

Bend and beyond

Outdoor lighting for
Central Oregon living.

Plan your lighting with CLG Outdoor Lighting in Bend, Sisters, Redmond, Sunriver and the surrounding resort and golf communities. From a welcoming entry to a quiet patio, the design starts with how you enjoy your property after dark.

Bend golf communities

Tetherow, Broken Top, Awbrey Glen and Widgi Creek.

Consider arrival paths, patio lighting and neighboring windows together. Carefully aimed light can reveal the landscape while keeping glare out of the view.

Sisters & Black Butte Ranch

Plan warm, shielded lighting for entrances, steps and paths. Preserve the darker areas around trees and open space, and confirm the property’s current community design requirements before choosing fixtures.

Redmond & Eagle Crest

Bring entrances and outdoor gathering spaces into one considered lighting plan. Review light spill, fixture placement and schedules alongside the rules that apply to your specific property.

Pronghorn at Juniper Preserve

Balance a welcoming home with the surrounding high desert night. Start with task lighting, shielding and controls, then confirm the applicable jurisdiction and architectural review process.

Sunriver, Crosswater & Caldera Springs

Create comfortable outdoor living areas without lighting every surface. Include dimming or timed controls where appropriate, and prepare fixture details for any required community review.

Brasada Ranch & nearby communities

Discuss your Central Oregon property with CLG, including homes around Powell Butte. Local codes vary by city and county; the Bend and Deschutes County guidance below does not cover every jurisdiction.

Community names identify project areas, not endorsements or preferred-installer status. Final fixture selection and installation must be checked against the property’s applicable rules and approvals.

A considered approach

The right light.
Only where it belongs.

The responsible lighting principles developed by DarkSky International and the Illuminating Engineering Society guide better decisions about purpose, direction, brightness, timing and color.

01

Purpose

Light the entrance, step, path or activity that needs it. Leave unnecessary areas unlit.

02

Direction

Use shielding and careful aiming to keep light on the intended surface.

03

Restraint

Choose the lowest practical output. More brightness is not always better visibility.

04

Control

Use schedules, dimming or motion controls so light is available when needed.

05

Warmth

Favor warmer light where appropriate. Color temperature is one part of the full design.

Read the source principles from DarkSky International.

Central Oregon requirements

Start with the property.
Then confirm the rules.

A Bend mailing address does not always mean a property is inside Bend city limits. Confirm the governing jurisdiction, current community guidelines and the proposed lighting use before selecting equipment.

Inside Bend city limits

Bend Development Code 3.5.200 generally requires covered fixtures to direct light down onto the site and avoid direct illumination or glare on neighboring properties. The code includes conditional exemptions, including some decorative, landscape and temporary holiday lighting.

Review the actual fixture and installation rather than assuming that every low-voltage light is exempt.

Review Bend’s outdoor lighting code →

Rural Deschutes County

The county’s updated standards took effect December 23, 2025. Non-exempt fixtures must be downcast and fully shielded, without prohibited light trespass. The county identifies replacement fixtures installed from that date as subject to the ordinance and a December 23, 2028 compliance date for other fixtures.

Cities within the county have their own standards. Exemptions and the actual property circumstances must be checked.

Review the county’s current guidance →

Official guidance reviewed October 10, 2026. HOA, resort and design-review requirements may add conditions. Applicable code and the reviewing authority govern each project.

From the first question to the final setting

A clear plan.
A carefully finished result.

01

Understand the property

Share your address, project goals, photographs and any HOA guidelines or lighting notice. Identify entrances, paths and outdoor spaces that need useful light.

02

Review the design

Discuss fixture placement, shielding, mounting, output, color and operating schedules. Compare adjustments to existing lights with replacement options.

03

Confirm the details

Check the exact manufacturer, model and options against the applicable requirements. Where DarkSky approval is specified, verify the current listing for that configuration.

04

Check the night view

Include final aiming, brightness and control settings in the agreed scope. Evaluate glare and light spill from normal circulation and neighboring sightlines after dark.

Questions worth asking

What does “dark sky compliant”
actually mean?

Does a warm LED automatically make my lighting compliant?

No. Shielding, brightness, aiming, mounting, operating hours and the applicable rules matter too. A warm lamp does not correct a fixture that shines into a neighbor’s window or the sky.

Is DarkSky Approved the same as local code compliance?

They are separate. DarkSky Approved identifies qualifying fixtures under DarkSky International’s program. Local compliance depends on the actual property, requirements and installed configuration. Community or HOA approval is another separate step.

Can permanent roofline or Christmas lighting be included?

Yes, those uses can be discussed as part of the property plan. Seasonal exemptions vary by jurisdiction; a year-round permanent system should not be treated as temporary holiday lighting automatically. No product or CLG service is represented here as universally compliant.

Can CLG help with an HOA or community lighting review?

Start with the current written guidelines and the property’s goals. A scoped lighting review can organize fixture specifications, placement, controls and questions for the relevant board or reviewing authority. Approval belongs to that authority.
